Este arreglo de Valderrábano para dos vihuelas corresponde a la segunda parte del Credo de la misa a seis voces de Morales basada en la canción de Josquin que presentamos en la versión de Narváez [No 10]. En el arreglo las seis voces están distribuidas entre los dos instrumentos con igualdad: cantus 1, altus 1, y el bassus para la primera vihuela; cantus 2, altus 2, y tenor para la segunda. Es una versión literal aunque Valderrábano suprime compases 25-27 del tenor en la segunda vihuela. El tiple de la canción de Josquin se encuentra empleado en el primer cantus como un cantus firmus y permite reconocer el obvio parentesco con su modelo. Las demás voces ocupan un lugar secundario y las cadencias son menos numerosas de lo habitual.

This work is Valderrábano’s arrangement for two vihuelas of the second part of the “Credo” of Morales’ six-voiced mass based on Josquin’s chanson (see no 10). In arranging the work, Valderrábano distributed the voices equally between the two instruments. The first vihuela plays the Cantus 1, Altus 1 and Bassus parts while the second instrument is given Cantus 2, Altus 2 and the Tenor. It is a literal arrangement although Valderrábano omits the tenor part in bars 25-27 in the second vihuela part. The soprano voice of Josquin’s chanson is given in the first Cantus part as a cantus firmus, and makes the relationship between the chanson and the motet patently obvious. The remaining voices take a secondary position. The music is also noteworthy for its continuity and the lack of internal cadences.
